The Ellison Medical Foundation contributed $10,000 to the International Longevity Center to help co-fund the Biomarkers of Aging: From Rodents to Man symposium, one in a series of Canyon Ranch symposia focused on topics relevant to increasing longevity. The symposium was held at Canyon Ranch, Tucson, AZ October 5-8, 2000.

The Ellison Medical Foundation contributed $2,500 toward the Symposium on Organisms with Slow Aging held at the University of Southern California September 22-23, 2000. The symposium provided a platform for new multidisciplinary approaches to slow aging and included scientists from the areas of biogerontology, demography, and evolutionary biology. |

2000 Conferences, Workshops & Education Award in Aging
The Jackson Laboratory, Bar Harbor, ME, was awarded $10,000 to help fund its 3rd Genetics of Aging Meeting held August 4-8, 2000. The focus of the meeting was on a comparative genomic approach for identifying genes that increase life spans in multiple biological organisms and suggest basic mechanisms of aging, and identifying research directions in the use of the laboratory mouse as a genetic model system.
